Kent Citric Menthol brings more flavor to tobacco
Written by: Michael Keferl on March 19, 2008 at 2:04 am | In Marketing & Ad Trends |The flavors are coming one at a time it seems. We first reported on the interesting product modification from Kool with their Kool Boost cigarettes featuring a tiny “powerball” that releases menthol flavor when popped. That got us to thinking…why only regular menthol?
These powerballs could be filled with anything from brandy to chocolate to strawberry flavors! We haven’t seen this yet from Kool, but Kent has just released a “Citric Menthol” cigarette with a yellow lemon-flavored stripe running down the filter.

We don’t expect this to be the last from the tobacco companies when it comes to flavors, though it certainly seems so far like they’ll have to involve menthol in some way. Would the average Japanese smoker go for something a little different in the flavor department? Well, the younger generation is much more open to innovations in tobacco, and smokers readily change brands here if only to get a cool lighter, so we say “Why not?”. These aren’t your pack-a-day Mild Seven-smoking salarymen anymore.
