Le Patissier towels and fashionable desserts are a hit

While they don’t typically eat overly sweet food, cakes and desserts are incredibly popular in Japan in ways that are more European than anything. Perfectly designed cakes, mostly of the French variety, are sold wherever women gather take a break from shopping. This means everywhere.

In the end, it’s not the taste of the desserts as much as the eye-catching cuteness of them that sells here in Japan. Because of this, dessert-inspired designs have become popular in fashion and accessories. Miniature cakes adorn cell phone straps, and necklaces are worn with Swarovski-studded strawberries and ice cream.

Now, towels made by Japanese company Prairie Dog called Le Patissier are becoming popular in home lifestyle goods stores. From the layers to the wrapping and the magnetic fruits on top, Le Patissier look unbelievably similar to the cute high-end desserts that Japanese love.

Towels are already standard gifts for people here, but the great packaging and marketing concept with Le Patissier have made them a big seller lately. In a similar vein, we reported a while ago on Ice Cream bath goods sold in a similar way. Now, bathing in ice cream, drying off with cakes, and heading out on the town covered with desserts is no longer confined to the Japanese adult industry.

UPDATE: Le Patssier towels now available at JapanTrendShop!
