Etiquette Checker improves dates, confirms drunkenness
Written by: Rebecca Milner on December 6, 2007 at 2:28 am | In Technology & Gadget Trends | 3 CommentsAnything that promises to boost confidence and make people more attractive to the opposite sex has big-seller potential in Japan. Enter the Etiquette Checker from Topland, which encourages would-be buyers with the slogan, “Let’s become a sociable person.”

This mobile phone-size 2 in 1 breath test checks for both offending breath and alcohol level in just 13 seconds and ranks the results on a six level scale visible on an LCD screen.

The product description further promises to help users become responsible drinkers and cut down on killer hangovers. Although it doesn’t seem to be too strict: according to the level descriptions, the checker deems you drunk at levels 4 and 5 but doesn’t pronounce you “way too drunk” until you are off the scale. Below is some video of some ambush breath-tests and excuses like “It’s probably because I ate some garlic”.
